Shawna Harbin is a doctoral candidate in Special Education at the University of Washington and is excited to join the SMART Center team. Her research focuses on promoting positive outcomes for young children and their families through the application of professional development opportunities that support family-professional partnerships and parent-coaching. Prior to her doctoral studies, Shawna served as a special educator in Early Intervention and early childhood special education settings. She enjoys hiking, hanging out with her family, and chasing the sun.

This study will test the effectiveness of the newly-redesigned paraeducator-delivered RUBI for use in Educational Settings (RUBIES) intervention compared to usual care training in reducing disruptive behavior in 80 elementary-school children with ASD. This study also will examine paraeducator- and child-level mechanistic pathways of the RUBIES intervention.
