For six years, the Northwest MHTTC School Mental Health team served the school mental health workforce in Region 10 (Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington). During this time, we curated timely and regionally-responsive events, developed tools for professionals in the field, and distributed critical resources. To operationalize this support, Northwest partnered with the University of Washington School Mental Health Assessment, Research, and Training (SMART) Center-a national leader in developing and supporting the implementation of evidence-based practices (EBPs) in schools, including prevention, early intervention, and intensive supports. It’s goal was to build a single system of delivery which education and mental health systems were integrated across the tiers.
Unfortunately, the MHTTC School Mental Health supplement will not continue after September 2024. SAMHSA funding has ended without a future opportunity. However, school districts in this region can now access MHTTC school mental health materials, along with a broad array of additional resources, through the NWMHTTC SMH team’s home organization–the University of Washington School Mental Health Assessment, Research, and Training (SMART) Center.
